The eagerly awaited eleventh edition of DÃa del Corsario will take place once again on Saturday, 1 August 2026. From 6:00 p.m., the celebration will begin, as tradition dictates, in Plaza de La Alameda, before spreading through some of the most representative areas of the historic centre of Santa Cruz de La Palma. Throughout the day, the city will become a large open-air stage.
The event, organised by Santa Cruz de La Palma Town Council and the DÃa del Corsario Cultural Association, commemorates the attack by the corsair François Le Clerc, popularly known as Pata de Palo, which took place in 1553. History comes back to life through a recreation that highlights the brave resistance of the people of La Palma, led by the legendary Baltasar MartÃn, a local hero remembered for his courage in defending the city.
Iconic locations such as El Barco de la Virgen and the squares of San Francisco, España, Santo Domingo and La Alameda will be filled with performances, historical recreations and street entertainment. All of this will allow visitors to symbolically travel back to the 16th century and experience one of the most important episodes in local history.
This combination of theatre, historical memory and heritage makes DÃa del Corsario a special celebration, full of emotion, identity and island pride. The day will end with a great night of music from 9:00 p.m. at the Trasera del Cabildo, featuring performances by La Grange, Ruta 66, Bienmesabe and Juana La Cubana.
