
The Carnival of Los Llanos de Aridane 2026 takes place from January 30 to February 21, offering almost a full month of celebrations for the whole family.
The programme includes traditional events and highly anticipated highlights such as the Fiesta del Pirata Galvao, the Carnival costume competitions, the Murga Festival, the Gran Polvacera, the Grand Carnival Parade, the Burial of the Sardine and the Piñata Dance.
During these weeks, the town fills with music, parades, street parties and children’s activities, making it one of the most vibrant carnivals on La Palma.
Carnival Programme of Los Llanos de Aridane 2026
Friday, January 30
- At 8.00 pm, the official presentation of the Carnival Fantasies 2026 will take place, along with the draw for the running order of the different galas, at the Town Hall atrium.
- At 9.00 pm, Plaza de España will host the presentation of the local murgas, Los Canchanchanes and Los Conejos Inolvidables.
Saturday, January 31
Pirate Galvao Festival
- At 12.30 pm, the gathering of pirates and the Pirate Train parade will begin, from La Carrilla to Cruz de Los Lomos.
- At 2.00 pm, the arrival of Pirate Galvao will take place aboard his ship Santa María, accompanied by Admiral Moisés and his crew, at Cruz de Los Lomos.
- At 3.00 pm, Plaza de El Retamar will host a live music performance by Zebensui Melián and the arrival of Galvao’s entourage, with the distribution of paella, wine, soft drinks and water.
- At 4.45 pm, a cultural gathering with the Caballos Fuscos of Fuencaliente will take place, together with the Carnival characters of Los Llanos de Aridane, followed by a descent to La Carrilla.
- At 6.30 pm, the day will conclude with a popular street dance, featuring Pepe Benavente and the group La Calle from Tenerife, including inflatable attractions for children and the traditional burning of Pirate Galvao.
Friday, February 6
Adult Gala
- At 8.30 pm, the Adult Fantasy Selection Gala of the Fairy Tales Carnival will be held, with the participation of Carnival groups and characters.
The event will be hosted by Wendy Fuentes and will include a performance by Cristina Ramos, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Saturday, February 7
Murga Festival
- At 12.30 pm, the Murga Festival will take place, featuring Los Bambones, Trapasones, Burlonas, Mamelucos, Diablos Locos, Los Conejos Inolvidables, Los Canchanchanes, Ni Sí Ni No and the children’s murga Los Mamelones, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Sunday, February 8
Children’s Gala
- At 8.00 pm, the Children’s Fantasy Selection Gala of the Fairy Tales Carnival will be held, with the participation of Carnival groups and a performance by Clown Flo, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Monday, February 9
Grand Lady Gala
- At 7.00 pm, the Grand Lady Fantasy Selection Gala will take place, hosted by Estrella Hernández and featuring a tribute performance to Alejandro Fernández, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Tuesday, February 10
- At 12.00 pm, the parade of the Ping Pong Early Childhood Education Centre will take place, from Calle Real to Plaza de España.
Wednesday, February 11
- At 5.00 pm, the Funcataes Gala will be held at Plaza del Carnaval.
Thursday, February 12
School Parade
- At 5.00 pm, the School Parade will take place, following a route from La Carrilla along Calle Sardelo Pérez Pulido, Plaza de España and Avenida Doctor Fleming, ending at Plaza del Carnaval.
The use of talcum powder during the parade is kindly discouraged.
Friday, February 13
- At 8.00 pm, the opening of the kiosks will take place at Plaza del Carnaval.
Saturday, February 14
Gran Polvacera
Throughout the morning, the waiting time will be enlivened by Los 3 de Caña, Pepe Benavente, Felipe Pérez DJ and Ritmo Bacano.
- At 2.00 pm, the Gran Polvacera parade will begin, from Calle Real to Plaza de España.
- At 6.00 pm, a grand street dance will be held, featuring Los 3 de Caña, Saoco, Combo Dominicano, Tropicana’s, DJ Yardy and T3NAX, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Sunday, February 15
Drag Queen Gala
- At 8.30 pm, the Drag Queen Gala will take place, hosted by Vanesa Artiles.
Participating drags include Ármex, Hefesto, Grimasira Maeva, Elektra, Hypnos and Yshia Taimy, with a performance by Samba do Corazón, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Monday, February 16
Carnival Burial
- At 6.00 pm, a popular street dance will be held, featuring performances by Miriam Cruz, a tribute to Manny Manuel, Grupo Extra, Joseph Fonseca, DJ Yardy, DJ Aguiche and DJ T3NAX, at Plaza del Carnaval.
Tuesday, February 17
Grand Carnival Parade
- At 5.00 pm, the Grand Carnival Parade will take place, with the participation of all groups, characters and costumes.
The parade route will run from Avenida Enrique Mederos to Plaza del Carnaval.
Thursday, February 19
- At 10.00 am, the exhibition of participating and award winning Carnival Fantasies will open, in Plaza de España and surrounding areas.
Friday, February 20
Burial of the Sardine
- At 5.00 pm, the wake of Doña Sardina will take place, with the distribution of wine and sardines, at Cruz de Los Lomos.
Afterwards, the traditional funeral procession will continue to Calle Ramón Pol, where the burning of the Sardine will be held. - At 7.00 pm, the Comparsa Festival will take place at Plaza del Carnaval.
- At 9.00 pm, a popular street dance will follow, featuring Nueva Línea, Edwin Rivera and BORIKÓ DJ.
Saturday, February 21
- At 7.00 pm, the Piñata Dance will be held, featuring performances by Porfi Baloa, Monterojo, Tropicana’s, Grupo Acuatro and Óscar Martínez from Los 40, at Plaza del Carnaval.
