The countdown is on for Transvulcania 2025, one of the most iconic trail running events in the Canary Islands and among the toughest in Spain. This ultra-endurance race takes place on Saturday, May 10, on the stunning island of La Palma, also known as the Isla Bonita, where runners from around the world will test their limits across dramatic volcanic terrain.
Organised by the Cabildo of La Palma and sponsored by Adidas Terrex, the race also promotes high-level sports tourism on the island.
The start is set for 6:00 AM at the iconic Fuencaliente Lighthouse and Salt Flats. In complete darkness, guided only by their headlamps, participants in the ultra, marathon, and half-marathon will begin an unforgettable journey.
The route climbs from the coast to over 2,400 meters above sea level, through unique volcanic landscapes. Along the way, runners will encounter more than 10 checkpoints, each with specific cut-off times to ensure both safety and excitement.
Throughout the weekend, cultural and musical events fill the island with life. In Los Llanos de Aridane, the finish line for most categories, visitors will find a festive area with info stands, sports gear, local food, and much more.
