The beach of Santa Cruz de la Palma is the longest and widest on the entire island. It is located next to the Avenida Marítima, famous for its typical balconies, right in the city center, making it very accessible to tourists visiting La Palma. It is also located just a few meters from the port. This urban beach is ideal for those who want to enjoy a day of sun and sea without having to travel far from the city.

The Santa Cruz beach was inaugurated in April 2017. It is an artificial beach created with the intention of giving the capital its own beach, while also protecting the maritime avenue from the waves.

The beach is very spacious: it is about 1230 m long and 50 m wide. Its waters are quite calm, and its sand is fine and black.

Additionally, it offers amenities such as showers, changing rooms, and restrooms, a children’s playground, and is equipped for people with reduced mobility. There’s also a kiosk and a wide variety of restaurants and bars nearby, making it an excellent option to spend a full day at the beach and enjoy the local cuisine.

In the summer, from 9:00 to 10:00 am and from 10:00 to 11:00 am, there is an area dedicated to outdoor activities. The disciplines vary and include zumba, spinning, body pump, body jump, tabata kids, body combat, yoga among others.

On the windiest days, especially in the months of July and August when the trade winds are more frequent, part of the beach is very popular with windsurfers who are learning and practicing this sport.

The beach at Santa Cruz de La Palma is perfect for family time and ideal for children; the waters at the northernmost part of the beach are calmer and shallower.

In December 2021, a monumental resin whale, colorful and still present, appeared on the beach of Santa Cruz, welcoming visitors. This symbol of rebirth, resurrection, abundance, and good fortune is a mystery that has not yet been fully revealed.
