Trails from La Cumbrecita

From the viewpoint, several trails let you explore the Caldera’s natural wonders. The most accessible is to Mirador de Lomo de las Chozas, an easy and panoramic 3 km round trip, mostly flat and perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the Caldera’s pines and steep slopes, a delight for nature lovers.

  • Parking reservation required: book in advance; weekdays easier, weekends often sell out. Place one copy of your permit visibly in your car and hand the other to the park warden.
  • Wear good shoes & bring water: some shade under the pines, stony paths.
  • Respect the environment: don’t litter, don’t disturb wildlife, don’t pick plants, follow park signs.
  • No pets or exotic plants allowed.
  • By car: LP‑302 with online reservation (at least 30 min. prior); without reservation you must walk past the barrier.
  • Without car: take a bus to El Paso, then a local taxi.
  • Organised tour: includes transport, access, guide & circular walk.
