The Volcano Route of Teneguía is one of the most accessible and breathtaking hiking experiences in southern La Palma.
This moderate, mostly downhill trail is perfect for families, beginner hikers, and anyone who loves volcanic landscapes.

Why You’ll Love This Hike
- Lunar landscapes and colour contrasts. You’ll walk through terrain that looks like another planet, where black lava merges with reddish hues and the green touches of life trying to grow among the lapilli.
- Historic volcanoes. You’ll step on the lava flows of the San Antonio Volcano, and you can climb to the Teneguía Volcano, whose 1971 eruption left a dramatic and living mark on the landscape.
- Vineyards on lava. Along the way, you’ll see Malvasía grape vineyards, symbols of La Palma’s Designation of Origin wines, a true example of farming against all odds.
